"Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral is Wednesday." My mom told me. Memories flashed through his mind like an old newsreel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.

"Jack, did you hear me?"

"Oh,sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It's been so long since I thought of him. I'm sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago," Jack said.

"Well, he didn't forget you. Every time I saw him he'd ask how you were doing. He'd reminisce about the many days you spent over 'his side of the fence' as he put it," Mom told him.

"I loved that old house he lived in," Jack said.

"You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to make sure you had a man's influence in your life," she said

"He's the one who taugh t me carpentry," he said. "I wouldn't be in this business if it weren't for him. He spent a lot of time teaching me things he thought were important...Mom, I'll be there for the funeral," Jack said.

As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight to his hometown. Mr. Belser's funeral was small and uneventful. He had no children of his own, and most of his relatives had passed away.

The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped by to see the old house, next door one more time.

Standing in the doorway, Jack paused for a moment. It was like crossing over into another dimension, a leap through space and time. The house was exactly as he remembered. Every step held memories. Every picture,

every piece of furniture....Jack stopped suddenly.

"What's wrong, Jack?" his Mom asked.

"The box is gone," he said

"What box?" Mom asked.

"There was a small gold box that he kept locked on top of his desk. I must have asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he'd ever tell me was the thing I value most Jack said.

It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack remembered it, except for the box. He figured someone from the Belser family had taken it.

"Now I'll never know what was so valuable to him," Jack said. "I better get some sleep. I have an early flight home, Mom."

It had been about two weeks since Mr. Belser died Returning home from work one day Jack discovered a note in his mailbox. "Signature required on a package. No one at home. Please

stop by the main post office within the next three days," the note read.

Early the next day Jack retrieved the package. The small box was old and looked like it had been mailed a hundred years ago. The handwriting was difficult to read, but the return address caught his attention. "Mr. Harold Belser" it read. Jack took the box out to his car and ripped open the package. There inside was the gold box and an envelope. Jack's hands shook as he read the note inside.

"Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack Bennett. It's the thing I valued most in my life." A small key was taped to the letter. His heart racing, as tears filling his eyes, Jack carefully unlocked the box. There inside he found a beautiful gold pocket watch.

Running his fingers slowly over the finely etched casing, he unlatched the cover. Inside he found these words engraved:

"Jack, Thanks for your time! -Harold Belser."

"The thing he valued most was...my time"

Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and cleared his appointments for the next two days. "Why?" Janet, his assistant asked.

"I need some time to spend with my son," he said.

"Oh, by the way, Janet, thanks for your time!"

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.

Think about this. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

1. At least 2 people in this world love you so much they would die for you. (I know my two, do you?)

2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

3. A smile from you can bring happiness

to anyone, even if they don't like you.

4. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

5. You mean the world to someone.

6. If not for you, someone may not be living.

7. You are special and unique.

8. When you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won't get it, but if you trust your God or Goddess to do what's best, and wait on them time, sooner or later, you will get it or something better.

9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good can still come from it. (you learned something from it, didn't you?)

10. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look: you most likely turned your back on the world.

11. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

12. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.

13. Always tell someone how you feel about them; you will feel much better when they know and you'll both be happy.

14. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.

People often wonder why I "bother" with the kids in my coven and on VR. I "bother" because as I was growing up, my mother gave me her time. So did my father. I'm just returning the favor. Simply, I'm giving my time to those kids, so they realize they are worthy. So they don't grow up, not knowing that someone took the time to be with them. Its a simple inexpensive gift that I give to all that I meet. So, to those closest to me.

"Thank you for your time."

Thanks to you, and many other people in the coven, I know who those people that love are. You all have taken so much time with me, with god-like patience and love, that I probably wouldn't be alive to day. If you hadn't been there in my times of crisis, to assure me that I was special, that I was indeed worth of a life, I know what my life would be like without that love.

"Thank you, Lady C, and everyone, for your time."

Lady Chordewa's Love Life Rules

18:50 Nov 09 2007
Times Read: 766

These are some of the things that I have been saying to people recently, figured it was time to share them. This was an email sent to me, but I found myself agreeing and learning and living these rules. So I will call them Chorde's rules of love. Not that I have had ample success with my lovelife, but I have had enough knocks to realized that every one of these is true. I am doing my best to follow them, maybe it will help others.

1. If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.

2. If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay.

3. Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior.

4. Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.

5. Stop trying to change yourselves for a relationship that's not meant to be.

6. Slower is better.

7. Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy.

8. If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no, you can't "be friends." A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend.

9. Don't settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is.

10. Don't stay because you think "it will get better." You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better.

11. The only person you can control in a relationship is you.

12. Avoid men who've got a bunch of children by a bunch of different women. He didn't marry them when he got them pregnant, Why would he treat you any differently?

13. Always have your own set of friends separate from his.

14. Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you.

15. If something bothers you, speak up.

16. Never let a man know everything. He will use it against you later.

17. You cannot change a man's behavior. Change comes from within.

18. Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than you are...even if he has more education or in a better job. Do not make him into a quasi-god. He is a man, nothing more nothing less.

19. Never let a man define who you are.

20. Never borrow someone else's man.

21. Oh Lord!? If he cheated with you, he'll cheat on you.

22. A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you.

23. All men are NOT dogs.

24. You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromise is a two-way street.

25. You need time to heal between relationships...there is nothing cute

about baggage... deal with your issues before pursuing a new relationship

26. You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you...a relationship consists of two WHOLE individuals...look for someone complimentary...not supplementary.

27. Dating is fun...even if he doesn't turn out to be Mr.. Right.

28. Make him miss you sometimes...when a man always know where you are, and you are always readily available to him- he takes it for granted.

29. Don't fully commit to a man who doesn't give you everything that you need. Keep him in your radar but get to know others.

30. In your life, everyone has to go through some heartache. How else would you know, what you want, what you don’t? How else would you recognize the one that is right for you? Pain is how you grow and learn. Its part of life, get use to it.

31. Actions speak louder than words.
